What is community?
As people over 50, we represent over 60 million Americans. We are in every community. Shopping, dining, supporting local businesses. At SeniorsNews we strive to help people connect with current events and articles for our well-being.
In the past, when thinking of seniors. We remember those days visiting grandma and grandpa. Grandpa working in the garden, while grandma baking cookies. Or we picture older people home bound. Not out exploring, but living their lives where they were born and raised.
Some ventured out to live in senior retirement communities. Communities which had everything in one or two buildings. Taking the retirement community bus for a special outing. OR going down stairs to eat in the community dining hall.
Not so today. There are some senior communities for the elderly. But those are not who we are. We are the go getters. The ones who ride our bikes. ski, swim, play golf, pickleball, line-dancing. Walks on the beach with the love of our life.
For a group of people over 50, some still work. Some may live in 50+ communities, but those communities are built for an active life style. Others still live in communities surrounded by the “younger” generation.
For all the 50+ we say well-done! You made it to a time in your life where you have the time and money to enjoy life. Keep it up. The phase “you are only as old as you feel” tells us where your heart, mind and spirits are at. Not old and frail, but young, invigorated with life to live. Places to go. People to see. Things to explore.
We are just starting to live the best parts of our lives. The chance to do what we want, when we want. Not hamstrung with the things younger people have to face. We “did our time”. Now is the time for us.
