For the last 13 years my wife and I have been mostly buying American made products. Within the last couple of years, when supply chains from China, the pandemic and businesses around the globe were shuttering. Our commitment to buy American-made paid off. As store shelves were becoming empty of product. People not able to go to the store due to lockdowns. We continued to receive the goods our family needed.
What does it mean to buy American-made? We know that even though we may pay a few cents more on the dollar for a product. Those little additional costs go a long way to ensuring the American economy, and her people are not only surviving, but growing. We all hear about the national GPD, but what about the local GPD of your community? Buying products made in America helps support families in your communities by giving them a place to work. Make a living and support their families. Families are the backbone of our economy and nation.
We do not get our basic needs from Amazon, Walmart online or any other retailer. We go directly to the American-made manufacturer for our goods. Amazon, Walmart and others are just the middleman. They buy from whomever is cheapest and put those items on their shelves. Does not matter to them if it was made in America or China. Bottomline is all that counts. When shopping, look at the “made in” label when shopping in these stores? It will surprise you.
Some say the government takes care of us. For those who may have forgotten, it is not the Government with their handouts that grow the economy. The government does not manufacture a single product! They tax working people to pay for everything they buy. Including the handouts Congress promises in return for votes. It is hard working Americans, striving to not only put food on the table, but to live a quality lifestyle who are willing to give some of their hard-earned money for the greater good of the whole.
Let’s not kid ourselves, not buying American-made supports other countries. Some of them are not so friendly to America. China does not care about America. England, France, Italy do not care. They all care to help their people and rightfully so. If their economies are strong, global finances are strong. If America is strong, the global economy benefits and is stronger.
Having a strong economy can only be done if we return to our roots of manufacturing products at home. Not shipping jobs overseas. Shipping Jobs to Idaho, Wyoming, Dakotas, The South, East and West.
America has always been a place of inventors and entrepreneurs, but since the 1970’s we have moved from a manufacturer-based economy to an intellectual-based economy. We envision, concept, design develop new products. Then ship the manufacturing of these products overseas to cheap labor countries. Robbing the vast manpower of our country, and the opportunity to manufacture from our own concepts. Detroit – was known as the “Motor City” of the world. It is a hollow shell of itself. A perfect example of what happens when we ship manufacturing overseas. Decay, poverty, crime move in where manufacturing moved out.
You may be asking, so how can I buy American-made products? Simple, if you understand supply chain economics. Companies want to partner with people. We learned to partner directly with manufacturer based in America. We order and they deliver to us.
The question is, are you willing to focus on America first? If so, let me help you understand how you too can connect with American-made manufacturing. Email me at dbuckalew@seniorsnews.org to find out more.
